Overall, through my research I've come to find that these silicone mitts are great for gripping hot foods, hot pots and pans, freezer items and grill items. They retain their flexibility and can withstand both cold and hot temperatures.  Obviously, you will still want to take a glance at the manufacturer's specs before you attempt to grab an item that is too hot.  That's just common safety practice.
